24-Hours. 32 Students. 4 Teams.
Within a 24-hour timeframe, students collaborated in cross-functional teams of four to create various deliverables, including social media content, motion graphics, trade show collateral and pride activation collateral.
Social Media TeamAs a member of the Instagram team, working alongside Jennifer Avila, Callie Lam, Berenice Ramos, and Jannett Tobon Santamaria, our task was to create digitally captivating assets that would revamp the brand image while amplifying the message of empowerment and support for the LGBTQ+ community.
Deliverables: We were able to successfully produce over 30 assets, crafted for use on social media platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, Twitch, and TikTok.
Timeline: 24 hours, from social media content ideation, group critiques, and presentation of the final deliverables to the organization It Gets Better.
Brand Refresh for It Gets BetterDuring the meeting, the It Gets Better team explained the organization's purpose and objectives. This gave the designers the opportunity to gather insights and seek clarification if needed. It was also shared that It Gets Better was undergoing a brand refresh, aiming for a playful and lighthearted visual identity, which they wanted the designers to align with.
Social Media Content PlanningThe Social Media Team was in charge of developing content for the It Gets Better Instagram account, which included GIPHY stickers for Instagram stories, frame templates for Instagram Reels and Instagram posts.
12-Hours 🕕: Group Presentations and CritiquesAt the midpoint of the design marathon, each team, including Instagram, Collateral, Booth, and Youtube/Twitch, presented their work via Figma boards. This process allowed us to gather critiques from a broader perspective. Additionally, the department chair, six alumni, and two members from AIGA LA provided valuable feedback for each team based on their experience and knowledge, contributing to the overall improvement of our work and ensuring consistency across all teams.
